President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to depart Abuja on Sunday, October 12, for Rome, Italy, to participate in the Aqaba Process Heads of State and Government Meeting, a high-level forum focused on advancing security cooperation and counterterrorism strategies across West Africa and the Sahel region.
The Aqaba Process, initiated by His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, brings together world leaders, policymakers, and security experts to discuss collaborative approaches to tackling emerging threats such as terrorism, violent extremism, and transnational crime.
According to a statement from the Presidential Communications Office, President Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to regional peace, stability, and global security partnerships.
During the summit, the Nigerian leader is expected to engage in bilateral talks with European, African, and Middle Eastern leaders, focusing on strengthening cooperation in counterterrorism, intelligence sharing, and regional development.
The President will be accompanied by senior government officials, including members of the National Security Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the summit after attending key sessions and side meetings designed to enhance Nigeria’s international partnerships.
