Former Rivers State Governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has expressed strong confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election.

Wike made this bold statement on September 1, 2025, while addressing speculations about possible outcomes in the next election. The former governor dismissed predictions suggesting Tinubu could come third or lose the race, describing such permutations as “goofs.”

“I can bet you, if Tinubu contests in 2027, he will win squarely. Those who think otherwise are only deceiving themselves,” Wike said.

The FCT Minister criticized political analysts projecting a run-off in 2027, insisting that President Tinubu’s political strength and track record will guarantee him victory. He also took a swipe at former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who had reportedly suggested scenarios that could weaken Tinubu’s chances.

Wike emphasized that the All Progressives Congress (APC) under Tinubu remains formidable and that opposition parties lack the cohesion to challenge him effectively.

The 2027 election, expected to be one of Nigeria’s most competitive polls, continues to generate heated debates among politicians and political observers.
