Tinubu Never Complained About Problems He Inherited – UN Deputy Chief Amina Mohammed

The United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his resilience and leadership style, noting that he has not complained about the challenges he inherited from the previous administration.
Speaking at a dinner held in New York during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Amina Mohammed said she has observed that while many around President Tinubu often lament the difficulties facing the country, the President himself remains focused on finding solutions rather than dwelling on inherited problems.
“People around him complain about what he inherited, but he doesn’t. He is focused on how to move Nigeria forward,” she said.
The UN Deputy Chief, who previously served as Nigeria’s Minister of Environment, added that leadership requires both courage and responsibility, commending Tinubu’s approach amid Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.
Her remarks come amid public debate over the state of the nation inherited by President Tinubu from his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, under whose administration the country faced inflation, insecurity, and rising debt levels.
Since assuming office in May 2023, President Tinubu has implemented a series of economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the naira exchange rate—policies that have sparked both praise and criticism across the country.
Amina Mohammed emphasized that leadership is not about shifting blame but about demonstrating accountability and taking decisive action for national progress.
“Leadership is not easy. You inherit both the good and the bad, but what matters is how you handle them. I respect leaders who take responsibility,” she added.
Her comments have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians applauding the praise while others question the current administration’s handling of the economy.
