Operatives of the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, have rescued three nurses who were abducted by gunmen in Ondo State.

The incident reportedly occurred at a primary health centre in Akure, where armed men attacked the facility and took several health workers away during a late-night raid.

Confirming the development, the Ondo State Amotekun Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, said the three nurses were successfully rescued in the early hours of the day following a swift security operation.

According to reports, the rescue operation was carried out around 4:30 a.m., bringing relief to families and colleagues of the victims.

Meanwhile, there are varying accounts surrounding the incident, with some reports suggesting that more health workers were initially taken, while others indicate that the attackers may have abandoned some victims after the operation intensified.

Security agencies have assured residents of continued efforts to ensure safety and prevent further attacks in the state.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of health workers and the need for improved security in medical facilities across the country.
