INTERVIEW: “Against the Odds, I Rose from Being a Cleaner to Data Scientist — Romoke Adunbarin”

In an inspiring tale of resilience and determination, Romoke Adunbarin, a graduate of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), has shared how she rose from working as a cleaner to becoming a First-Class Mathematics graduate and a data scientist.

Romoke revealed that in 2021, she worked as a cleaner to support herself financially while pursuing her degree in Mathematics at UNILORIN. Despite the challenges, her passion for education and technology never wavered.

Today, she stands tall as a First-Class graduate, a volunteer tutor for data analysis with Python, and an active participant in Computer Science Academy Africa (CSA) workshops, where she trains students on programming and data skills.

“I knew I had to make sacrifices to achieve my dreams. Working as a cleaner was tough, but it paid off. Today, I’m proud to say I graduated with a First-Class in Mathematics and built a career in data science,” she said.
