Suspected Kidnappers of Edo Medical Doctor Arrested At His Hospital

By Erewunmi Peace

Suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of a medical doctor in Edo State and the killing of his younger brother have been arrested after reportedly taking their sick child to the same hospital where the doctor works.

According to the Edo State Police Command, the suspects were involved in the kidnapping of Dr.
Ibrahim Babatunde in Auchi earlier this year. During the incident, the doctor’s younger brother, Abu Tahir, was killed.

Police sources revealed that after the doctor regained his freedom, two of the suspects later visited the hospital where he is employed to seek medical treatment for their sick child. The doctor allegedly recognised them, leading to their identification and subsequent arrest.

Security operatives had earlier arrested other suspects during coordinated operations involving local hunters and vigilante groups in forest hideouts within the area.

Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of inquiries.

The Edo State Police Command reiterated its commitment to combating kidnapping and violent crimes across the state, assuring residents that efforts are being intensified to bring all perpetrators to justice.
