PDP Not Dead, Oyinlola Tells Supporters After Adeleke’s Defection

Former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola has assured supporters that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains strong despite the recent defection of Governor Ademola Adeleke to the Accord Party.
Speaking at a PDP stakeholders’ meeting in Osogbo, Oyinlola emphasized that the party continues to maintain its structure and grassroots presence across the state. He urged members not to be swayed by narratives suggesting the party’s collapse.
“PDP is not dead. We remain a very strong political platform in Osun State, and we will continue to work for the growth of the party at all levels,” Oyinlola said.
The meeting drew participants from all 30 local government areas, where discussions focused on strengthening party structures and mobilizing members ahead of upcoming political activities.
Osun PDP’s caretaker chairman, Tunde Tijani, also reinforced the message, stating that the party would soon tour local governments to rebuild and fortify its presence.
Political analysts note that while defections are part of Nigeria’s political landscape, the PDP’s grassroots structures in Osun remain intact, giving it a platform to recover and maintain relevance in state politics.
