By Erewunmi Peace

A Nigerian man, Elder Anthony Anyiam Onyegbule, has drawn widespread attention after being reported to be 128 years old and still living an active and independent life.

According to reports, Onyegbule, who hails from Imo State, can read without glasses, bathe himself, and even enjoys dancing despite his advanced age.

Speaking during a recent interaction, the elderly man reportedly challenged younger people, saying “dare me to jump,” as he expressed confidence in his physical strength and agility.

Family members and community sources claim that his age is based on historical records and personal documents, including a letter believed to date back to 1918. However, his age has not been officially verified by global record bodies such as Guinness World Records.

If confirmed, Onyegbule’s age would surpass the current verified world record for the oldest person, making his case remarkable in the history of human longevity.

Health experts often note that longevity can be influenced by factors such as lifestyle, diet, genetics, and environment. Onyegbule’s story has therefore sparked conversations about healthy aging and resilience.

While the exact age remains unconfirmed, his active lifestyle and independence continue to inspire many within and beyond his community.
