ADC Crisis: Kachikwu Alleges Attempt to Hijack Party Leadership
By Erewunmi Peace
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Dumebi Kachikwu, has alleged that there is an ongoing attempt by certain individuals to hijack the leadership structure of the party.
Kachikwu, who previously contested under the ADC platform, expressed concern over recent internal developments, warning that the actions of some political actors could threaten the party’s unity and democratic principles.
He stated that any attempt to impose leadership or manipulate party structures would not only undermine internal processes but also weaken the credibility of the party ahead of future elections.
However, his claims have been strongly disputed by other members of the party. Some officials insist that all leadership decisions and structural changes were carried out in accordance with the party’s constitution and due process.
The situation has exposed growing tensions within the ADC, highlighting disagreements over control, direction, and internal governance.
Political observers note that such internal conflicts are not uncommon in party politics, especially as groups position themselves for influence ahead of major political cycles.
As of the time of this report, there has been no unified statement from the party leadership addressing the allegations.
