Convener of the Northern Stakeholders Consultative Initiatives (NSCI), Alhaji Yerima Shettima, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated a clearer development direction for Northern Nigeria despite spending only three years in office.

Speaking during a recent interview, Shettima compared the current administration with that of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who served for eight years between 2015 and 2023.

According to him, although Nigerians continue to face economic and security challenges, the Tinubu administration has introduced policies and projects that provide a roadmap for long-term development.

He argued that several infrastructure projects and economic reforms initiated by the current government indicate a more defined approach to governance and national development.

Shettima noted that while the benefits of some reforms may not be immediately visible, there are signs that the country is gradually moving toward economic stabilization and improved infrastructure.

He also called on Nigerians, particularly those in the North, to remain patient with the administration, stressing that meaningful reforms often require time before producing visible results.

The NSCI convener further maintained that the current government inherited several longstanding challenges and should be given the opportunity to fully implement its programmes.

His remarks have generated reactions among political observers, with supporters citing ongoing reforms and infrastructure projects, while critics continue to express concerns over inflation, cost of living, and insecurity.

As of the time of filing this report, the comments remain part of the broader national debate on the performance of the Tinubu administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
