INEC Announces Final Phase of Nationwide Voter Registration, Sets May–July Timeline

By Erewunmi Peace

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across the country.

According to the commission, the registration will commence on May 11, 2026, and is expected to conclude on July 10, 2026.

INEC stated that the exercise is aimed at providing an opportunity for eligible Nigerians who have not yet registered to do so ahead of upcoming elections.

The registration will also accommodate individuals who wish to transfer their voter registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or update their personal information.

The commission explained that the previous phase of the exercise was temporarily suspended to allow for the cleaning and verification of the voter register.

Following the completion of the final phase, INEC plans to display the updated voter register for public scrutiny and verification.

The commission urged eligible citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to register and ensure their participation in the electoral process.

Further details on registration centres and procedures are expected to be released by INEC as the exercise approaches.
