The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Buba Marwa, has warned students against engaging in drug abuse, highlighting its damaging effects on individuals, the economy, and national security.

Marwa gave the warning while delivering a lecture at the University of Abuja’s combined convocation ceremony.

In his address, he stressed that drug abuse poses a serious threat to society, noting that it contributes to crime, violence, and reduced productivity across the country.

He also warned that involvement in drugs could have long-term consequences for students, including legal issues and the loss of career opportunities.

According to him, as graduates prepare to enter a highly competitive world, staying away from drugs is essential for personal growth and national development.

Marwa further noted that the growing rate of drug abuse among young people, including university students, is a major concern that requires urgent attention.

The lecture serves as a reminder of the dangers of drug abuse and the need for young Nigerians to make responsible choices as they transition into the next phase of their lives.
