US Imports $578m Worth of Nigerian Crude Oil in First Quarter of 2026

By Erewunmi Peace

The United States imported approximately $578 million worth of Nigerian crude oil during the first quarter of 2026, according to recent international trade data reports.

The report, which cited figures from U.S. trade agencies, showed that millions of barrels of crude oil were exported from Nigeria to the United States between January and March 2026.

Analysts noted that the transaction reflects continued energy trade relations between both countries, despite shifting global oil market conditions and changing energy demands.

Data from the report indicated that the total value of Nigerian crude imported by the U.S. during the three-month period stood at about $578.78 million.

Industry observers also pointed out that the figure represented a decline compared to the corresponding period in the previous year, when crude oil imports from Nigeria were reportedly higher.

Nigeria remains one of Africa’s major crude oil producers and continues to play an important role in global energy supply.

Experts say fluctuations in oil prices, international demand, and market competition continue to influence export volumes and trade values within the global petroleum sector.

Further updates are expected as global energy markets respond to evolving economic and geopolitical developments.
