Nine Killed, 11 Injured in Suspected Terrorist Attack on Kaduna Community

At least nine persons have been confirmed dead, while 11 others sustained injuries following a deadly attack by suspected terrorists on Unguwar Magaji community in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident reportedly occurred late on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, when armed attackers invaded the community and opened fire on residents, causing panic as people fled for safety.

According to the spokesperson of the Irigwe Youth Movement, Joseph Yonkpa, the initial casualty figure rose after search and recovery operations were carried out in the area, leading to the discovery of more bodies.

The attackers were said to have operated for some time before fleeing the scene, leaving behind casualties and widespread fear among residents of the affected community.

Security operatives were later deployed to the area to restore calm and begin investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The injured victims were reportedly taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment, while efforts continued to account for missing persons.

Community leaders have called for increased security presence in the area, urging authorities to intensify operations to prevent further attacks.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had yet to release an official statement on the incident, while residents remain on edge following the latest violence in the region.
