Imo Government Bans Frequent Textbook Changes in Public and Private Schools

By Erewunmi Peace

The Imo State Government has announced a ban on the frequent change of textbooks in both public and private schools across the state.

According to the directive, schools are now required to adopt approved textbooks and retain them for a minimum period before any change can be made, in order to ensure stability in the learning process.

The policy is aimed at reducing the financial burden on parents and guardians, who often face yearly expenses due to constant textbook replacements.

Education authorities in the state stated that the move is also designed to promote consistency in the curriculum and improve the quality of teaching and learning in schools.

The government urged school owners and administrators to comply fully with the new directive, warning that defaulters may face sanctions.

The policy has been welcomed by some stakeholders who believe it will ease educational costs, while others say proper monitoring will be needed to ensure compliance.

Further updates are expected as implementation of the directive begins across schools in the state.
