Ondo Varsity Uncovers Alleged ₦457.5m Tuition Fraud Involving Ex-Staff, Students

Authorities of Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, have uncovered an alleged tuition payment fraud involving a former staff member and several students, with the amount involved estimated at about ₦457.5 million.
The institution disclosed that the alleged fraud was discovered during an internal audit carried out by the university management.
According to reports, over 300 students allegedly paid tuition fees into a private bank account linked to a former employee instead of the university’s official account.
The university management stated that the fraudulent activities reportedly spanned multiple academic sessions and involved collaborators both within and outside the institution.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Oyesoji Aremu, confirmed that investigations had commenced while disciplinary and legal actions were being considered against those implicated.
Management also revealed that security agencies had been contacted to investigate the matter further and ensure that everyone connected to the alleged fraud is brought to justice.
The institution assured parents, students, and stakeholders that measures were being introduced to strengthen payment monitoring systems and prevent future financial irregularities.
The development has generated reactions among Nigerians, with many expressing concern over rising cases of financial misconduct within educational institutions.
