Tension as APC Faces Reversals and Nullifications of Primary Results in Some States

By Peace Erewunmi

There is growing tension within the All Progressives Congress (APC) following reports of reversal and nullification of party primary election results in some states and constituencies ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Reports indicate that in several cases, primary election outcomes have been overturned either by court rulings or party-level review mechanisms where disputes, irregularities, or violations of electoral guidelines were established.

In some affected constituencies, aggrieved aspirants challenged the outcome of primaries, leading to legal disputes that resulted in the cancellation or adjustment of results by competent courts.

The developments have sparked fresh political tension within the party, as affected aspirants and their supporters continue to express dissatisfaction over the handling of the internal selection process.

Party sources say the APC leadership has been reviewing disputed primaries in line with internal regulations and court judgments, while also working to manage internal conflicts ahead of the general elections.

Some of the disputes stem from allegations of irregular conduct during the primaries, including claims of imposition, vote manipulation, and violation of agreed party guidelines.

However, it is important to note that these reversals are not nationwide but are limited to specific states or constituencies where disputes were formally raised and legally addressed.

As of the time of filing this report, the APC has not issued a single nationwide statement nullifying all primary results, but continues to address cases individually
