FG Declares May 27, 28 Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Adha Celebration

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.

The declaration was made through the Ministry of Interior on behalf of the Federal Government.

According to the government, the holidays are to enable Muslim faithful across the country celebrate the Eid-ul-Adha festival, also known as Eid-el-Kabir.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulated Muslims on the occasion and urged Nigerians to continue praying for peace, unity, and national progress.

The Federal Government also encouraged citizens to use the festive period to promote tolerance, love, and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians regardless of religious or ethnic differences.

Authorities further called on Nigerians to celebrate responsibly and support efforts aimed at ensuring national stability and development.

The announcement has since generated reactions across social media platforms as Nigerians prepare for the nationwide celebrations.
