Charles Omole Speaks on Influence Groups Within Tinubu Administration

By Erewunmi Peace

Author and political commentator, Charles Omole, has spoken on the existence of informal influence groups within President Bola Tinubu’s administration, noting that such structures are common in political systems.

Omole made the remarks during an interview on the State Affairs podcast hosted by Edmund Obilo, where he discussed governance, power dynamics, and political decision-making in Nigeria.

In the interview, he suggested that administrations often operate with internal circles of influence that play advisory or strategic roles in shaping policy direction, though such groups are not officially recognised structures.

He referenced historical patterns in Nigerian governance, noting that successive administrations, including that of former President Muhammadu Buhari, have faced similar public discussions around informal power blocs.

Omole did not provide an official or verified list of any such groups within the current administration but spoke broadly about the nature of political influence and advisory networks.

His comments have since generated discussions online, with Nigerians debating the role of informal actors in governance and decision-making processes.

The Presidency has not issued any official response to the remarks as of the time of this report.

The conversation adds to ongoing public discourse on transparency, governance structures, and political influence in Nigeria’s federal administration.
