Yoruba Leaders Launch Omo Odùduwà Collective, Call for Constitutional Reform and National Renewal

A group of Yoruba leaders, including intellectuals, professionals, and activists, has announced the formation of a new socio-political platform known as the Omo Odùduwà Collective.
The group said the initiative was born out of concern over Nigeria’s current governance challenges, economic hardship, and what it described as the declining state of democratic values and accountability in the country.
According to the founders, the Collective aims to promote constitutional reform, good governance, and national renewal while encouraging broader civic participation in shaping Nigeria’s future.
They noted that Nigeria is at a critical point where urgent reforms are needed to strengthen institutions, improve leadership accountability, and address growing socio-economic pressures affecting citizens.
The group also emphasized the importance of dialogue and restructuring as key pathways toward achieving a more stable and functional federation.
Observers say the emergence of the Omo Odùduwà Collective adds to ongoing national conversations around restructuring and political reform, which have remained central to Nigeria’s democratic debate in recent years.
