The Ogun State Government has shut down Avalon Industrial Estate located in the Moloko-Asipa area along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway over alleged illegal disposal of harmful waste materials.

The action was carried out by the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA) as part of the government’s ongoing environmental enforcement campaign across the state.

According to reports, the estate was sealed following allegations of improper waste disposal practices considered harmful to public health and the environment.

State environmental officials said the enforcement action became necessary to prevent possible health hazards and environmental pollution linked to unsafe waste management activities within the facility.

The Ogun State Government has in recent months intensified crackdowns on illegal waste dumping, open waste burning, and other environmental violations by companies, factories, markets, and industrial operators across the state.

Authorities warned that individuals and organisations found violating environmental regulations would continue to face sanctions, closures, and possible prosecution.

Officials also reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting residents from environmental hazards and ensuring compliance with approved waste disposal regulations.

As of the time of filing this report, further investigations into the alleged violations were said to be ongoing.
