Tinubu Approves New Welfare Package for Civil Servants

By Erewunmi Peace

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a new welfare package aimed at improving the working conditions and benefits of civil servants across the country.

The package includes an increase in key allowances, as well as the introduction of additional support measures designed to enhance the well-being of government workers.

Among the highlights of the reforms are the approval of 100 percent Duty Tour Allowance (DTA), a review of estacode and other official allowances, and the establishment of an Employee Compensation Scheme to address workplace-related risks.

The government also introduced an Exit Benefit Scheme and a housing loan programme valued at ₦10 billion to support civil servants in accessing affordable housing.

Officials say the measures are part of broader efforts to improve service delivery within the public sector and boost worker morale.

The development reflects ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the civil service and ensuring better welfare for employees in the federal workforce.

Stakeholders have described the move as a positive step toward addressing long-standing concerns about workers’ welfare in Nigeria.
