NDLEA Intercepts UK, Australia-Bound Drugs in Cartons, Destroys 65 Tonnes of Skunk in Delta

By Erewunmi Peace

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted drugs concealed in cartons that were reportedly destined for the United Kingdom and Australia.

The agency disclosed that the shipments were discovered during routine inspection and intelligence-led operations aimed at curbing international drug trafficking.

In a related operation in Delta State, NDLEA operatives also destroyed about 65 tonnes of skunk (cannabis) found in multiple locations.

According to the agency, the destruction exercise targeted illegal cannabis farms and storage sites as part of ongoing nationwide anti-narcotics operations.

NDLEA officials said the interceptions and destruction activities form part of intensified efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and reduce the circulation of illicit substances in and outside Nigeria.

The agency added that investigations are ongoing to identify those behind the intercepted shipments and the cultivation of large-scale cannabis farms.

NDLEA reiterated its commitment to strengthening enforcement operations and disrupting both local and international drug trafficking syndicates.
