“I Am Not Igbo” — Ekiti APC Candidate Speaks Out Over Identity Controversy

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ekiti South West Federal Constituency I, Engr. Toyin Zacchaeus Okoro, has denied claims circulating on social media suggesting that he is of Igbo origin.
Okoro described the allegation as false, misleading, and politically motivated, stating that it was aimed at undermining his political ambition ahead of the forthcoming elections.
In a public response, the APC candidate insisted that he is a bona fide indigene of Ise-Ekiti in Ekiti State, stressing that his family background and ancestry are rooted in the state.
He explained that the claims were part of political propaganda being spread to create unnecessary controversy around his candidacy following the party primaries.
Okoro further urged the public to disregard what he called baseless rumours, reaffirming his commitment to representing his constituency effectively if elected.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from political opponents regarding the identity controversy.
