A Fulani community leader in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Abdullahi Muhammadu, has spoken out after police declared his sons wanted over alleged involvement in kidnapping activities in parts of the state.

The community leader said he had always tried to support and reform his son, explaining that he even provided treatment and encouraged him to change after previous brushes with the law.

According to him, his efforts were aimed at ensuring his son abandoned criminal behaviour and reintegrated into society as a responsible individual.

However, police authorities are currently investigating the alleged involvement of the suspects in kidnapping-related activities, with reports indicating that ransom-related evidence was discovered during the course of investigations.

Security sources said the suspects are part of a group being tracked across Ogun communities, following several reports of abductions and criminal activity in the area.

The Fulani leader, however, maintained that he has no involvement in the alleged crimes and insisted that he had consistently warned his son against criminal conduct.

He also stated that he is cooperating with security agencies to ensure that anyone found guilty is brought to justice.

As of the time of filing this report, police operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, while investigations into the case continue.
