Retired Major General Adeyinka Famadewa, recently appointed as Special Adviser on Homeland Security by President Bola Tinubu, had previously advocated for a broader national approach to addressing insecurity in Nigeria.

In public writings and commentaries released in 2023, Famadewa argued that relying solely on military operations would not be sufficient to solve the country’s security challenges.

He emphasized the importance of intelligence gathering, institutional reforms, community engagement, and coordinated national strategies in combating terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats.
