Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has expressed support for the emergence of Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election in the state.
Ambode commended Hamzat’s leadership qualities and loyalty to the party, describing him as a capable candidate to continue the developmental strides in Lagos State.
In addition, the former governor reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, endorsing his re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He emphasized the need for unity within the party and called on members to work together to ensure victory for the APC at both the state and national levels.
Political observers note that the endorsement signals growing alignment within the party as preparations gradually begin for the next election cycle.
However, analysts also point out that the party’s internal processes, including primaries, will ultimately determine its official candidates.
Further political reactions are expected as stakeholders continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
