“Terrorists Move to Other Countries When Pressured” — Musa Raises Concern Over Cross-Border Insecurity

By Peace Erewunmi

A security expert, Musa, has raised concerns over the mobility of terrorist groups operating in parts of West Africa, saying that increased military pressure in one country often pushes them to relocate across borders.

Speaking on the dynamics of insurgency and cross-border crime, Musa explained that terrorist groups often adjust their operational bases when confronted with intensified attacks.

“What the terrorists actually do is that when you attack them more, they move to another country,” he said, noting that this pattern makes regional security cooperation very important.

He warned that without strong collaboration among neighbouring countries, terrorist groups could continue to exploit porous borders to evade military operations and regroup.

Musa stressed the need for coordinated intelligence sharing, joint military operations, and stronger border surveillance to effectively combat the movement of armed groups across West Africa.

He added that insecurity in one country often has direct implications for neighbouring states due to the transnational nature of modern terrorism.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities have not issued a formal response to the statement, but regional governments continue to intensify joint efforts against cross-border insecurity.
