Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has disclosed that Federal Government security operatives have been working in the state for the past two weeks as part of efforts to rescue abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area.

The governor made the disclosure while addressing protesters in Ibadan, stating that he had been holding regular meetings with the security team to coordinate rescue operations.

According to Makinde, the operatives have remained actively engaged in efforts to secure the release of the victims and restore confidence in affected communities.

“I have been meeting with them morning and night, sometimes three or four times in a day,” the governor said, stressing that security agencies were working tirelessly to achieve a breakthrough.

The latest comments come amid growing public concern over the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers, an incident that has sparked protests and calls for urgent government action.

Makinde emphasized that the situation should not be politicized, describing it as a national security challenge that requires cooperation among all levels of government.

He urged Nigerians to focus on supporting ongoing rescue efforts rather than engaging in blame games, noting that the safety of the abducted victims remains the top priority.

The governor also expressed sympathy for the affected families and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with federal authorities and security agencies until all victims are safely rescued.

The abduction has renewed concerns about school safety and insecurity in parts of the country, with stakeholders calling for stronger measures to protect students and educational institutions.

As of the time of filing this report, rescue operations were ongoing, while authorities continued efforts to track down those responsible for the attack.
