The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive election materials in Ekiti State ahead of the 2026 governorship election scheduled for June 20.

The exercise took place at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday morning, under tight security supervision involving law enforcement agencies and election observers.

Officials of INEC confirmed that the distribution process began around 8:00 a.m. and is part of final preparations to ensure a smooth and credible electoral process across the state’s 16 local government areas.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ekiti State, along with security representatives and electoral officers, monitored the movement and allocation of the materials to designated locations.

Security agencies deployed for the election were also present to escort the materials and ensure they are safely delivered to collation centres across the state.

INEC reiterated its commitment to transparency, fairness, and efficiency in the conduct of the election, assuring voters that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for a peaceful exercise.

As of the time of filing this report, electoral officials continue to supervise the final logistics ahead of the poll.
