A member of the House of Representatives, Aminu Sani Jaji, has raised fresh concerns over the security situation in Zamfara State after recounting a disturbing account involving victims of banditry.

Speaking on the worsening insecurity in the state, the lawmaker alleged that a pregnant woman who had been abducted by bandits gave birth to twins while in captivity.

According to Jaji, the newborn babies were allegedly killed by the leader of the armed group, an account he cited as evidence of the level of brutality being experienced by communities affected by bandit attacks.

The lawmaker said the incident reflects the severe humanitarian crisis facing many residents in parts of Zamfara and other states in the North-West region.

He also disclosed that hundreds of residents remain in captivity, while many communities continue to face attacks, displacement, and disruptions to farming and other economic activities.

Jaji called for stronger security measures and increased support for security agencies to address the persistent threat posed by armed groups.

The remarks have sparked renewed discussions about the need for more effective strategies to tackle insecurity and protect vulnerable communities.
