Lagos Government Urges Banks, Eateries to Provide Public Access to Toilets
By Erewunmi Peace
The Lagos State Government has called on banks, eateries, filling stations, and other public-facing businesses to allow members of the public access to their toilet facilities.
The appeal is part of ongoing efforts by the state to tackle open defecation and improve environmental sanitation across Lagos.
Government officials noted that while the state has provided hundreds of public toilets in various locations, additional support from private establishments is necessary to meet growing demand.
According to the authorities, making restroom facilities accessible to the public—where feasible—will help reduce the incidence of open defecation and promote better hygiene practices.
The initiative forms part of broader sanitation strategies aimed at creating a cleaner and healthier environment for residents.
Stakeholders have been encouraged to cooperate with the directive, as the government continues to explore sustainable solutions to sanitation challenges in the state.
