Amotekun Bursts Syndicate Feigning Guests to Rob Residents, Recovers Stolen Vehicles

By Peace Erewunmi

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has dismantled a criminal syndicate accused of posing as guests to gain access to homes before robbing unsuspecting residents across parts of the state.

The Commander of the Amotekun Corps in Ondo State, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed that the suspects employed a deceptive strategy in which one member of the group would approach a residence and engage occupants in conversation while other members remained hidden nearby. Once the door was opened, the remaining gang members would force their way into the premises and carry out their operation.

According to Adeleye, the suspects often entered homes without immediately resorting to violence. They allegedly intimidated victims with firearms, demanded food and other provisions, and later compelled residents to transfer money from their bank accounts before carting away valuables, including vehicles.

The Amotekun commander revealed that operatives successfully disrupted the activities of the syndicate during a series of intelligence-led operations. Several suspects were arrested, while stolen vehicles linked to the gang were recovered. Security personnel also recovered a vehicle reportedly used in an attempt to attack members of the security outfit during an escape operation.

Adeleye stated that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the security agency to combat kidnapping, robbery, vehicle theft, and other criminal activities within the state. He noted that additional suspects linked to other criminal networks had also been apprehended in recent weeks.

The security agency further disclosed that investigations are continuing to identify other members of the syndicate and recover additional stolen property. Residents were urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.

The latest arrests underscore the continued efforts of Amotekun and other security agencies to improve public safety and curb organised crime across Ondo State.
