Kano Orders Probe of Sacked Head of Service Over Alleged ₦1.5bn Salary Deductions

By Erewunmi Peace

The Kano State Government has ordered a full investigation into the activities of the former Head of Service following allegations of unauthorized salary deductions totaling about ₦1.5 billion.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf announced the probe during the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration in Kano, assuring civil servants of his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

According to the governor, the investigation will focus on claims that significant sums were deducted from workers’ salaries without proper approval, raising concerns among affected employees.

The former Head of Service had earlier been removed from office before the decision to launch the probe.

Yusuf emphasized that his administration would not tolerate any actions that undermine the welfare of workers, noting that appropriate steps would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.

The move is part of broader efforts by the state government to strengthen oversight and ensure responsible management of public funds.

Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
