Single 4-Year Tenure for IGP Officially Gazetted

The Federal Government has officially gazetted the policy establishing a single four-year tenure for the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) in Nigeria.
The development formalizes the leadership structure of the Nigeria Police Force, confirming that an IGP is entitled to a single, non-renewable tenure of four years, subject to the relevant provisions of the law.
The gazette provides official legal backing to the reform, making it part of Nigeria’s documented governance framework.
The policy aligns with the provisions of the Nigeria Police Act 2020, which introduced reforms aimed at improving stability and professionalism within the Police Force.
