Army Raises Concern Over Civilian Supply Networks, Cattle Markets Linked to Boko Haram Logistics in North-East

By Erewunmi Peace

The Nigerian Army has raised concerns over the role of certain civilian supply networks and cattle markets allegedly being exploited by Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents to sustain their operations in North-East Nigeria.

Military officials involved in Operation HADIN KAI disclosed that insurgent groups have continued to rely on illegal supply channels, transportation routes, and commercial activities within some communities to obtain logistics and operational support.

According to the Army, cattle markets and local trading systems have in some cases been used by criminal elements to move resources and facilitate insurgent activities across affected areas.

Security authorities also revealed that several communication devices suspected to be connected to terrorist operations were recently intercepted during ongoing counterinsurgency operations.

The military emphasized that the concerns relate to specific individuals and criminal collaborators and should not be interpreted as accusations against all civilians or traders in the region.

The Army reiterated its commitment to working with local communities, traditional leaders, and security agencies to dismantle support networks aiding terrorist groups.

Operation HADIN KAI continues to lead counterterrorism operations in the North-East as authorities intensify efforts to combat insurgency and restore stability across the region.

Further security operations and investigations are expected to continue in affected areas.
