Tinubu Nominates Tegbe as Power Minister, Appoints Ex-Minister Babalola as Adviser

By Erewunmi Peace

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power, subject to confirmation by the Senate.

In a related development, the President also appointed former minister, Lanre Babalola, as Special Adviser on Power, where he is expected to lead efforts aimed at reforming and strengthening the sector.

The moves are part of ongoing efforts by the administration to address challenges in Nigeria’s power sector and improve electricity generation, transmission, and distribution across the country.

Officials say the combination of ministerial leadership and advisory support is designed to provide strategic direction and accelerate reforms within the industry.

While Tegbe’s nomination awaits legislative approval, Babalola is expected to immediately begin work in his advisory capacity.

Observers note that the appointments signal renewed focus on tackling long-standing issues in the power sector.

Further developments are expected as the Senate begins the confirmation process and new strategies are rolled out to improve power supply nationwide.
