Former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, has reportedly withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary amid growing political tensions within the party in the state.

The development follows internal disagreements surrounding the party’s candidate selection process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Reports indicate that Daniel also advised some of his supporters to distance themselves from the primary process as concerns over fairness and internal party arrangements continue to generate reactions.

The situation has further highlighted ongoing political divisions within the APC structure in Ogun State, particularly among key stakeholders and political blocs.

Political observers say the latest development could influence the balance of power within the party ahead of future electoral contests in the state.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation regarding reports of any private meeting between Daniel and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the withdrawal.
