Rescue Mission Turns Deadly as Explosives Kill Security Operatives in Oyo School Kidnap Crisis

A rescue mission launched to secure the release of abducted teachers and pupils in Oyo State has reportedly turned tragic after explosives planted by kidnappers killed members of the security team.
The operation involved soldiers, operatives of the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, and local hunters who were deployed to track down the abductors.
Reports indicate that the rescue team encountered improvised explosive devices allegedly planted by the kidnappers during the operation in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
The incident reportedly resulted in deaths and injuries among members of the rescue team, while efforts to rescue the abducted victims continue.
Governor Seyi Makinde confirmed casualties during the operation and expressed concern over the worsening security situation surrounding the abduction.
Security agencies have intensified operations in the affected area as authorities continue efforts to secure the safe release of the remaining victims and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
