EKSU Deputy Registrar Dies During Registrar Selection Exercise

The Ekiti State University (EKSU) community has been thrown into mourning following the death of a Deputy Registrar, Mr. Afolabi, during a screening exercise for the position of substantive Registrar.

According to reports, the senior university official collapsed while participating in a written test organized as part of the selection process for the vacant Registrar position.

Witnesses said the incident occurred during the exercise, prompting immediate efforts to provide medical assistance before he was taken to a healthcare facility.

Despite attempts to save his life, he was later confirmed dead, leaving colleagues, family members, and members of the university community in shock.

The unfortunate incident has sparked widespread condolences from staff, students, and stakeholders, many of whom described the deceased as a dedicated administrator who contributed significantly to the institution.

University authorities are yet to release a detailed official statement on the circumstances surrounding the incident, while tributes continue to pour in from within and outside the institution.

The death has also renewed discussions about workplace health, stress management, and medical preparedness during high-pressure recruitment and assessment exercises.

As of the time of filing this report, arrangements regarding funeral plans and official memorial activities had not been announced.
