The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over allegations involving diversion of public funds and abuse of office.

In an official notice released by the anti-graft agency, the EFCC stated that the former minister is being investigated in connection with alleged financial misconduct linked to programmes managed during her tenure in office.

According to the commission, the allegations involve suspected conspiracy, abuse of office, and diversion of funds associated with humanitarian and social intervention projects.

The EFCC urged members of the public with useful information regarding her whereabouts to contact the agency through its offices nationwide.

The development forms part of ongoing investigations into the management of public funds under the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and related agencies.

Sadiya Umar Farouq served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari between 2019 and 2023.

As of the time of filing this report, no court has convicted the former minister, and the allegations remain under investigation.

The case has continued to attract public attention amid broader concerns about transparency and accountability in the management of government intervention programmes.
