Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has stirred controversy following his comments on the recent Oyo school kidnapping incident, where he criticized Governor Seyi Makinde’s handling of security in the state.

Mbaka made the remarks while reacting to the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, an incident that has continued to spark national outrage and renewed concerns over insecurity in the region.

In his statement, the cleric questioned the effectiveness of state-level security measures and suggested that more responsibility should be taken by local authorities in preventing such attacks.

He also made comments that were interpreted by observers as being more lenient toward the federal government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, drawing mixed reactions from the public.

While some Nigerians agreed with his criticism of state security structures, others accused him of politicizing a tragic situation involving innocent schoolchildren and teachers.

Security experts continue to call for improved coordination between federal and state authorities to tackle rising cases of kidnappings across the country, particularly in schools.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Oyo State Government nor the Presidency had issued an official response to Mbaka’s remarks.
