Several residents have been killed following a fresh attack by gunmen in Plateau State, with reports confirming that pregnant women were among the victims.

The incident occurred in the Ngbra Zongo community in Kwall District of Bassa Local Government Area, where armed attackers reportedly stormed the area in the early hours of the day.

Residents said the attackers opened fire on members of the community, leaving multiple people dead and several others injured.

Local sources confirmed that women and children were among those affected, while many residents fled the community over fears of further violence.

Security agencies and local authorities have yet to release a final official casualty figure, although reports indicate that more than ten people lost their lives in the attack.

The latest incident has heightened concerns over recurring violence and insecurity in parts of Plateau State, where communities have experienced repeated attacks in recent years.

Community leaders have called on the government and security agencies to intensify efforts to protect lives and prevent further bloodshed.

Investigations and security operations are expected to continue as authorities work to restore calm in the affected area.
