By Erewunmi Peace
The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has ordered the deployment of 216 personnel of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) for mandatory peacekeeping training.
According to police sources, the officers are expected to report for the training programme in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s participation in international peacekeeping operations and improve operational readiness.
The directive, issued through official police channels, makes the training compulsory for the selected officers, with warnings that failure to comply without approval will attract disciplinary action.
The exercise is aimed at enhancing the capacity of PMF personnel in modern policing standards, crowd control, and peace support operations under regional and international frameworks.
Security analysts note that the move aligns with ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to improve professionalism and prepare officers for both local and international assignments.
The Nigeria Police Force has continued to emphasize training and capacity development as part of its broader reform agenda under the current leadership.
Further details on the duration and structure of the training programme are expected to be released by the Police authorities.
