2027: Peter Obi Can’t Use 2023 Gimmicks Against Tinubu – Senator Olujimi Declares

Senator Biodun Olujimi, a prominent leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Senate Minority Leader, has dismissed the possibility of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, replicating his 2023 campaign strategy successfully in the 2027 general elections.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State described President Bola Tinubu as a “dyed-in-the-wool politician” and suggested that Obi’s previous political tactics would be ineffective against the current administration.
“The rhetoric of the last election will not work again, except he [Peter Obi] comes with another gimmick,” Senator Olujimi said.
She emphasized that the 2023 elections were driven by emotions and a wave of populist sentiment, particularly among the youth, but warned that 2027 would require a more pragmatic and strategic approach from any opposition figure seeking to unseat Tinubu.
“Tinubu knows the terrain well. It will be tough for anyone to beat him, especially with his political structure,” she added.
Olujimi’s comments come amid ongoing speculation about the political future of Peter Obi, who remains a key figure in Nigeria’s opposition movement following his strong performance in the 2023 elections.
Reactions Mixed:
Her remarks have sparked mixed reactions across social media. While some view her analysis as realistic given Nigeria’s political dynamics, others see it as underestimating the growing influence of alternative political movements.
What to Watch For:
As 2027 approaches, political observers are closely monitoring how Peter Obi, the Labour Party, and other opposition parties intend to regroup, re-strategize, and possibly form alliances to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
