Troops of the Nigerian Army have reportedly neutralised three suspected members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) during a security operation in Anambra State, recovering weapons and explosive materials from the scene.

According to reports, the operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to combat armed groups and criminal activities in the South-East region. Security operatives engaged the suspects during a confrontation, leading to the death of three alleged ESN members. Similar recent operations in Anambra have led to the recovery of firearms, improvised explosive device (IED) materials, and other items linked to armed groups.

Military sources disclosed that weapons and explosive components were recovered during the operation. Recovered items reportedly included firearms, ammunition, and materials suspected to be used in the fabrication of improvised explosive devices.

The operation forms part of intensified security measures being conducted by the military and other security agencies under ongoing counter-insurgency and anti-crime operations across the South-East. Authorities say the objective is to dismantle criminal networks, destroy operational camps, and restore peace in affected communities.

Security agencies have continued to urge residents to provide credible information that could assist ongoing operations and improve public safety. They also reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining coordinated efforts against violent criminal groups operating within the region.

As of the time of filing this report, further investigations and clearance operations were said to be ongoing in the affected area, while authorities continue efforts to identify and apprehend other suspects linked to the group.
