Alleged ₦2.4bn Fraud: Court Adjourns Ex-Aviation Minister Stella Oduah’s Trial Until March 5

By Erewunmi Peace

The trial of former Aviation Minister Stella Oduah over an alleged ₦2.4 billion fraud has been adjourned to March 5, 2026, by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Abuja.

Justice Hamza Muazu granted the adjournment after the prosecution informed the court that Oduah had submitted an application to the Attorney‑General of the Federation for plea-bargaining discussions regarding the case.

Oduah and her co-defendant, Gloria Odita, were arraigned on a five-count charge of fraud, obtaining by false pretence, and criminal breach of trust.

The allegations relate to contracts and funds allegedly obtained under false pretences in 2014 during Oduah’s tenure as Minister of Aviation.

“The defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the court has adjourned to allow for further submissions,” the court stated.

Observers note that the adjournment provides both the prosecution and the defense time to explore resolution options under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act’s plea-bargaining provisions.

The case remains under close watch, as it involves significant public funds and a high-profile political figure in Nigeria.
