Osun Govt Trains 1,000 Youths, Women on Waste-to-Energy Conversion

By Erewunmi Peace

The Osun State Government has trained no fewer than 1,000 youths and women on waste-to-energy conversion as part of efforts to promote environmental sustainability, job creation, and a green economy in the state.

The training programme, tagged “Power from Plenty:

Turning Local Waste into Clean Energy for Osun Communities,” is designed to equip participants with practical skills on how to convert waste materials into usable energy sources.

Speaking during the
programme, state officials explained that the initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to addressing waste management challenges while creating economic opportunities for residents, particularly young people and women.

According to the organisers, the training is a continuation of the state’s waste-to-wealth programme, but with a stronger focus on energy generation, climate action, and sustainable development. Participants were exposed to modern techniques for recycling and energy recovery from waste.

The government noted that beneficiaries are expected to apply the knowledge gained to create small businesses, generate employment, and contribute to cleaner communities across Osun State.

The initiative is also aimed at supporting renewable energy development and reducing environmental pollution, while empowering citizens with income-generating skills.
