Tinubu Pledges to Replicate FCT Infrastructure Development Across Nigeria
By Peace Erewunmi
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged that the infrastructure transformation currently taking place in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will be replicated across the country as part of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He said every region of Nigeria deserves quality infrastructure that supports economic growth and improves the lives of citizens.
The President made the pledge in Abuja during the inauguration of the newly completed Transitway N2, a major road project linking the Central Business District to the Wuse District. The project also includes two newly constructed bridges delivered by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA). Tinubu was represented at the event by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
According to the President, the new road is more than just a transportation project. He described it as a symbol of progress and a reflection of his administration’s commitment to building infrastructure that enhances connectivity, reduces traffic congestion, unlocks economic opportunities, and promotes sustainable urban development.
Tinubu said his government is determined to ensure that every part of Nigeria benefits from investments in roads, bridges, railways, and other critical infrastructure. He stressed that no region would be left behind in the country’s development agenda, adding that improved infrastructure remains essential for national unity, security, and economic prosperity.
Speaking on the significance of the Transitway N2 project, the President noted that commuters travelling between Wuse and the Central Area had for years experienced severe traffic congestion and long travel times. He said the new road corridor would significantly improve traffic flow, reduce travel time, and make movement easier for residents, businesses, and visitors within the capital city.
The President also commended the Federal Capital Territory Administration for executing projects that align with the Abuja Master Plan. He said strategic infrastructure investments are necessary to accommodate the city’s growing population while improving the quality of public services and encouraging private-sector investment.
The Renewed Hope Agenda places infrastructure development among the Federal Government’s top priorities, with ongoing investments in transportation, housing, power, and other sectors aimed at stimulating economic growth and creating employment opportunities. The administration maintains that expanding infrastructure is critical to improving productivity and attracting investment across the country.
The inauguration of the Transitway N2 adds to a series of infrastructure projects recently commissioned in the FCT. Government officials say similar projects are planned for other states as part of efforts to improve national connectivity, ease the movement of people and goods, and support long-term economic development.
