CDS Orders Deployment of Special Forces to Kwara, Niger Over Rising Insecurity

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has ordered the deployment of special military forces to Kwara State and parts of Niger State following growing insecurity in the region.
The decision comes amid rising cases of armed attacks, banditry, and killings affecting communities across the North-Central zone.
According to military authorities, the deployment is part of intensified efforts to restore peace, strengthen security presence, and prevent further violence.
Speaking during a recent security briefing, the CDS assured Nigerians that the Armed Forces are taking proactive steps to address the situation.
He emphasized that the special forces deployment would enhance intelligence operations, improve rapid response capabilities, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
In addition to the troop deployment, the military has reportedly activated coordinated security operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements operating within affected communities in Kwara and neighboring Niger State.
Residents in the affected areas have expressed hope that the reinforced military presence will help reduce attacks and improve overall safety.
Authorities have also called on citizens to support security agencies by providing credible information that could assist ongoing operations.
The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property while strengthening collaboration among security agencies to tackle insecurity nationwide.
